Thomas & Betts (T&B) has introduced the Surge Protection line, which is designed to provide protection for alternative energy sources from the damaging effects of electrical power surges. The T&B portfolio, which includes Joslyn surge-protective devices, provides protection from the component level up to complete facility coverage.
The products are available with optional electromagnetic interference and radio-frequency interference filters to protect sensitive control systems from interference caused by variable-frequency equipment. The T&B line includes individually fused metal-oxide varisters to provide protection from extended surge events, the company notes.
Available surge ratings are 400 kA, 240 kA, 160 kA and 100 kA per phase. DIN rail mounting is also available with these devices.
