Main Street Power Co. Inc., a national solar developer based in Boulder, Colo., has been awarded a contract by the Contra Costa County board of supervisors to build, own and operate 2.37 MW of distributed solar photovoltaic systems on 12 sites across Contra Costa County, Calif.
Under the power purchase agreement, Main Street will own and operate the systems at county sites for 20 years, selling the energy at discounted rates. The company says it will also partner with the Contra Costa County Workforce Development Board to hire local labor and identify job-training opportunities. The contract also has a requirement to pay prevailing wages and specifies that contractors in Contra Costa County provide half of the installation work.
