SpectraWatt, a manufacturer of multicrystalline solar cells, plans to close its Hopewell Junction, N.Y., factory and lay off more than 100 workers.
The company cited a decline in demand for solar cells due to severe winter weather in Europe as the reason behind the closure, according to an AP report. SpectraWatt, which was spun off by Intel Corp., opened its New York factory earlier this year.
