Xunlight Corp., a Toledo, Ohio-based designer and manufacturer of flexible and lightweight thin-film silicon solar modules, has received certification under the requirements of the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) 61646 and 61730 standards.
According to the company, this certificate was granted after rigorous testing by TUV InterCert GROUP, an independent certification organization, and confirms that Xunlight's module technology meets the guidelines set forth by the IEC for safety, quality and performance assurance.
With this certification, Xunlight says it is now part of a very small group of flexible solar module manufacturers eligible to sell into the European marketplace. Five of the company's products with wattages up to 307 W per module and use in systems up to 1000 V DC, have been approved. The certified modules include those with widths of both 91 cm and 48 cm wide, and a total length up to 5.5 meters long.
