QSolar Ltd. says it has received a $3.25 million order for 2.5 MW of its proprietary Spraytek 79 solar modules to provide power for the Rendata project in southern Oregon.
The project, located near Grants Pass, Ore., is being developed by Ra Power & Light LLC as one of the U.S.' first all-solar communities. Overall, it will utilize more than 10,000 Spraytek 79 modules in 800 homes and commercial facilities. Each home will feature a 2.5 kW PV system and solar domestic hot water, with optional electric-vehicle charging stations.
The project will begin with the delivery of two sample houses, followed by volume deliveries to start in early 2012. Completion of the entire order is subject to the company's obtaining an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification, the company notes. QSolar's management expects to obtain the UL certification in the fourth quarter of this year.
