Q-Cells SE has introduced its Q.SMART modules, a copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin-film module technology that the company says is designed to maximize power output and return on investment in distributed solar generation.
The modules feature aperture efficiencies of up to 14.7% and a CIGS technology that does not initially degrade in the first years of operation, according to Q-CELLS. The modules harness a ‘light-soaking’ effect to generate an average of 2.5% power boost above nominal power at standard test conditions when deployed in the field.
Q.SMART modules also feature a power appreciation warranty of 25 years – a 100% performance guarantee for the first three years and linear degradation of no more than 0.7% per year thereafter. According to the company, this warranty program reassures customers that their Q.SMART modules will continue at peak performance throughout their operational lifetimes.
The modules have been previously deployed in installations in Europe.
