Carol Murphy, the executive director at the Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACENY) has retired as of Jan. 1.
During her six years at ACENY, Murphy helped to shape policy by advocating for net metering and its renewable portfolio standard as well as championing the return of Article X, the law pertaining to wind energy siting. Under her leadership, the organization also worked on solar policy issues, such as net-metering caps.
Valerie Strauss, the organization's deputy director, has become interim executive director. According to ACENY, Strauss will work closely with the board and membership over the next few months to update the organization's priorities and strategic plan for 2013.
