Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has signed two solar power purchase agreements for up to 250 MW of solar power from K Road Moapa Solar. The K Road Moapa solar power installation will be located on the Moapa Band of Paiute Indians tribal land north of Las Vegas.
The Los Angeles City Council approved the contracts – the largest in the city's history – last month. The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power will purchase the solar power generated at K Road Moapa Solar.
The energy produced by the projects will supply up to 200,000 Los Angeles homes, the mayor's office tweeted.
