The Massachusetts Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs has announced that Alicia Barton McDevitt will be the new executive director and CEO of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC).

Barton McDevitt replaces Patrick Cloney, who is leaving the organization to pursue new opportunities in the private sector. Cloney founded the MassCEC in 2009. Under his leadership, the MassCEC launched the Solarize Massachusetts program, as well as oversaw a portfolio of investments in Massachusetts clean energy companies and the development of the world's largest wind blade test center.

Prior to joining the MassCEC, Barton McDevitt served as deputy commissioner for policy and planning at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. She also served as assistant secretary for environmental review, director of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act, and deputy general counsel at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
