The Pocono Raceway, a NASCAR racetrack in Long Pond, Pa., has inaugurated a 3 MW ground-mounted photovoltaic plant. The plant will become the primary electric energy source for the race track while adding electricity to the local power grid.
The project was developed by enXco and is owned by Pocono Raceway. The installation consists of nearly 40,000 photovoltaic modules that will produce more than 72 million kWh of energy over the next 20 years.
