The 25 MW El Centro solar photovoltaic plant in California has become operational. Built by Spain-based T-Solar Group, the 140-acre facility is expected to generate 55 GWh of electricity per year. The power is being supplied to the Imperial Irrigation District under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
The El Centro facility represents T-Solar's first U.S. PV project. The North American Development Bank has provided a $65 million loan for the construction of the project. Santander Bank NA provided tax equity investment. In total, the facility required an investment of more than $75 million.
