Abengoa Solar Inc. (ASI), under contract to Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI), plans to install a turnkey solar hot water heating system at the federal correctional institution in Englewood, Colo.
The solar system consists of 160 parabolic PT-1 collector modules totaling 22,720 square feet of collector area situated on 1.7 acres of land. The solar collectors were manufactured at ASI's headquarters in Lakewood, Colo., in accordance with ISO 9001, the company notes.
Major project suppliers include Hydro Aluminum, which is supplying most of the aluminum components used in fabricating the solar collectors, and 3M, which will supply the film to make the mirrors that focus the sunlight.
The project is expected to come online in April.
