Aluminum Coil Anodizing Corp. (ACA), based in Streamwood, Ill., has launched ProtectAL, a solar reflector product that uses a proprietary process to create glass-infused aluminum. According to the company, the product can deliver the high performance of glass without the weight and breakability, and at a fraction of the cost.
ProtectAL features a sapphire-hard surface that withstands corrosion, windblown abrasives and severe climates, even in coastal applications. The product is significantly more durable than conventional aluminum reflectors, but still offers aluminum's ease of fabrication and economical shipping and installation costs, ACA says.Â
ProtectAL is patent-pending, outperforms coated aluminum reflectors and, depending on application, can be warranteed up for to 30 years. The product is available in coil or sheet form or may be ordered in patented composite panels.
