The Global Solar Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to coordinating the international advocacy efforts of the world’s solar energy associations, has named Jodie Roussell its new CEO.

Roussell, who will assume the new role on Aug. 1, currently serves as head of public affairs for Trina Solar in Europe, Africa and Latin America. She previously co-founded the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and the European campaign for the Alliance for Affordable Solar Energy. She also served as head of energy utilities and technology at the World Economic Forum and led strategy and corporate development at JA Solar.

“Roussell’s 15-year career in solar power, combined with experience in the U.S., Europe and Asia, brings a unique perspective on the global business and policy landscape and makes her the ideal choice to lead the council,” says Bruce Douglas, chairman of the Global Solar Council and chief operating officer of SolarPower Europe.

“I am honored to have been elected as the Global Solar Council’s next CEO,” states Roussell. “It is a privilege to be part of an organization dedicated to building the global solar industry’s markets, developing innovative skills training, and doing its part to enable solar energy to serve as a transformational tool for healthy and sustainable communities. We are an organization led by a purpose – to spread the benefits of solar energy and its capacity to create jobs, growth and sustainable economic development around the world.”
