Tom Weirich, vice president of corporate relations for the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE), has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC) as a representative of ACORE. His term is effective immediately and will last until July 14, 2012.
The committee will advise Commerce Secretary Gary Locke on the development and administration of programs, policies, products, services and technologies, as well as on the specific challenges associated with exportation.
Among the committee's other considerations will be a focus on trade policy development and negotiations; U.S. government programs to encourage U.S. producers of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, goods and services to enter foreign markets and enhance the competitiveness of the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry; the effects of domestic policies, regulations and programs on the competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency companies; and an examination of the policies and practices of foreign governments impacting the export of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency goods, services and technologies.
