Akeena Solar Inc., a solar system designer and installer, recently formed its advisory board with the appointment of Joe Abrams and Steve Westly. The board was created to counsel management on a wide range of strategic and marketplace issues, including business development, political and cultural initiatives.

Abrams specializes in working with small technology companies to build shareholder value in the public markets. Over the past 12 years, he has worked with numerous companies to build businesses, raise capital and gain liquidity. He co-founded Intermix in 1998, which was sold to News Corp. in 2005 for $580 million.

Westly is the founder of The Westly Group, which helps entrepreneurs build companies in clean technology. Prior to The Westly Group, he served as controller and chief fiscal officer for the state of California. He began his career in Washington, D.C., where he worked first on Capitol Hill and later in the Office of Conservation and Solar at the U.S. Department of Energy.
