Alanod-Solar Supplying Absorbers For Large Solar Thermal Project

0

Alanod-Solar, a provider of absorptive and reflective solar surfaces, has been chosen by GREENoneTEC to supply its mirotherm absorbers for what Alanod-Solar says will be the world's largest solar thermal project. It is currently under construction as part of the Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University for Women in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The solar thermal system's collector surface area covers nearly 120,000 square feet, and the energy generated by the GREENoneTEC collectors will be used to produce hot water and support the heating system for the campus. The entire campus accommodates 40,000 students, teaching staff and other employees, along with living quarters, research facilities and its own hospital.

The construction project has a contract value of more than $11.5 billion. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2011.
