Altus Power Connects Solar Project To Georgia Grid

0

Connecticut-based Altus Power America Inc. has interconnected a 750 kW ground-mounted solar PV system located in Newington, Ga.

The company says the electricity generated by the system will be provided directly to the Georgia Power utility infrastructure through the Advanced Solar Initiative. The 20-year contract will contribute to Georgia Power’s solar program designed to spur renewable and economic growth within the Georgia solar community.

Altus Power funded and will own and operate the system. Project development commenced in September 2014, and construction began in January 2016.  The system was interconnected in March.  Altus Power notes the Newington project is one of the first solar PV systems Altus Power has developed in the southeast region of the U.S.

“We are pleased to provide more clean energy to Georgia Power through the Advanced Solar Initiative,” comments Dustin Weber, vice president of Altus Power America. “The town of Newington in Screven County will be a great long-term partner on this solar project.”
