London-based Amber Infrastructure has completed a large roof-mounted solar panel array at the Marks & Spencer (M&S) East Midlands Distribution Center in Castle Donington, U.K.
Amber acted as the sole funder for the project, which involved the installation of 24,272 photovoltaic solar panels across a rooftop site spanning 900,000 square-feet. The company says it is the largest rooftop PV project in the U.K.
The array is expected to generate 5,000 MWh of electricity per year, which will be supplied to M&S through a long-term power purchase agreement. The array will generate 25% of the energy required to operate M&S's automated distribution center.
