Ameresco Inc. has begun construction on a 1.5 MW ground-mounted photovoltaic system at a capped-landfill site in Lowell, Mass.
The project calls for the installation of more than 6,000 PV modules. Through a power purchase agreement with Ameresco, the city will also be able to manage and control its electricity budget over a 20-year contract term, Ameresco says.
This new ground-mounted PV system represents the third phase in a partnership between Ameresco and Lowell. Earlier phases included energy conservation measures and other efficiency upgrades at schools and municipal facilities.
