0

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council Inc. (IREC) have announced the four certificate-awarding entities that are currently participating in the ANSI-IREC pilot accreditation program for energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The following organizations are in the final stages of an accreditation process that began in January:

  • California-based CalCERTS, which focuses on the training and certification of Home Energy Rating System Raters;
  • North Carolina-based CleanTech Education, which offers training solutions focused on solar photovoltaics, solar heating, energy efficiency, wind energy, green IT and smart grid;
  • Illinois-based Building Science Institute, which provides education for energy and construction professionals; and
  • Wisconsin-based Midwest Renewable Energy Association, which offers training in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Accreditations are expected to be announced for the pilot program by the end of August. ANSI and IREC expect to re-open the program for general accreditation applications late this year.
