Applied Materials Inc. has appointed James E. Rogers to its board of directors and named him to serve as a member of its human resources and compensation committee and the strategy committee of the board.
Rogers is chairman of the board, president and CEO of Duke Energy, one of the largest electric power companies in the U.S. Prior to the merger of Duke Energy and Cinergy in 2006, he served as Cinergy's chairman and CEO for more than 11 years. Rogers was also chairman, president and CEO of PSI Energy from 1988 to 1995.
