Adhesives Research (AR), a Glen Rock, Pa.-based developer and manufacturer of custom pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes (PSAs), specialty coatings, films and laminates, has introduced new bonding technologies.
As an alternative to traditional bonding methods, such as soldering for electrical interconnects and liquid epoxies for encapsulation, the new PSA technologies offer PV manufacturers reliable bonds that deliver added functionality for enhancing the capabilities and performance of a variety of PV modules, the company says.
ARclad 92446 and ARclad 92709 – the company's new junction box tapes – feature AR's new die-cuttable foam tape technology laminated to the junction box. According to AR, this technology creates a bond directly to the glass, producing a long-term, reliable bond.
Additional new adhesives include ARclad 92708 and ARclad 90038 for PV busbars and new barrier technologies for thin-film modules.
