Argand Energy Solutions, based in Charlotte, N.C., has been awarded a contract for the installation of a 500 kW solar energy system for Glen Raven Inc. atop its Norlina, N.C., plant. Glen Raven is a manufacturer of yarns for Sunbrella performance fabrics.
According to Argand Energy, the solar array will be the largest under Progress Energy's SunSense commercial PV program. The $3 million project includes replacing the plant's 175,000 square-foot roof with a highly reflective white roof designed to enhance the performance of the solar modules and improve cooling inside the plant.
Completion of the solar installation is anticipated this fall.
