Columbia, S.C.-based Argand Energy Solutions, a designer and installer of solar electric, wind and solar hot water systems, has been contracted by Tony Bakker, owner of the Charleston Battery Soccer Team, to install 60 solar panels at the club's home, Blackbaud Stadium.

Using modules produced by Evergreen Solar Inc. of Marlboro, Mass., Argand will install 10 solar panels mounted on six poles generating 11 kW of power. The first phase of the project begins with tree limb removal to reduce the likelihood of shade. The major installation of the system is scheduled to begin after the New Year and be completed in time for the Charleston Battery's first game in March.
