Aries Ingenieria y Sistemas, based in Madrid, Spain, says its three concentrating solar power (CSP) plants – ASTE 1A, ASTE 1B and ASTEXOL-2 – have been officially registered by the Spanish Ministry of Industry according to the Royal Decree 6/2009 and are, therefore, entitled to receive the highest feed-in tariff available.
The three 50 MW plants, with a total investment in excess of 900 million euros, are located in Alcazar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) and Badajoz. Ground-breaking ceremonies were held in July. Each plant employs parabolic-trough technology and is expected to utilize more than 209,000 parabolic mirrors and more than 22,000 absorber tubes when construction is complete.
The construction of the three CSP plants will create 1,500 new jobs in the region during construction and another 150 jobs for qualified employees and technicians during operation, the company adds.
