The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) has won a $100,000 Recognition Award from American Express for being one of the top five finalists in The Members Project, a competition designed to present ideas for improving the state of the world. ASES' ‘Wind and Solar for Residential’ project won third place in the competition, which was voted upon by American Express cardholders.
‘The results of this competition send a clear message that there's a growing hunger for clean energy across the U.S.,’ said Neal Lurie, director of marketing for ASES. ‘We'd like to thank American Express and its card members for adding their voice and for making a difference.’
ASES announced it will use the funds to help accelerate the development and use of renewable energy. The winning idea in The Members Project was a U.S. Fund for UNICEF proposal to provide safer drinking water for children in the developing world.
