Atlantic Wind & Solar Inc. has signed an agreement with Rooftop Solar Developments Inc. (RSD) designed to expand the reach of Atlantic's rooftop solar energy program.
The agreement encompasses a new concept in securing rural rooftops in central and northern Ontario for Atlantic's utility-scale solar energy parks, the companies explain. RSD's approach to securing feed-in-tariff (FIT)-eligible rooftops entails offering farmers and other agricultural-related landowners the opportunity to have barns and other utility-related buildings erected on their land at no cost to them. The structures will host Atlantic's solar energy systems.
The electricity generated from these rooftop energy parks will be sold into the grid under the terms and conditions of the Ontario government's FIT. Atlantic Wind & Solar will be the ultimate owner and manager of the project and FIT contract, and will be responsible for the receipt and disbursement of all revenues.
