Ausra Inc., a solar thermal steam equipment provider, has sold the Carrizo Energy Solar Farm, a proposed project that was planned for San Luis Obispo County, Calif., to a subsidiary of First Solar Inc.
Ausra says the sale of the Carrizo development project enables the company to continue to focus its resources on advancing its previously announced shift in strategy to serve the power and process steam markets as a supplier of large-scale solar steam generators.
As part of the sale of Carrizo, the development project's power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. was withdrawn.
‘Acquiring Ausra's solar project gives First Solar the flexibility to offer San Luis Obispo County a revised layout to consider for First Solar's Topaz Solar Farm,’ notes Kathryn Arbeit, Topaz project director at First Solar. ‘The revision reduces impacts, responding to concerns such as farmland conservation and wildlife needs.’
