A couple of weeks after filing for bankruptcy, renewable energy company SunEdison Inc. has named John S. Dubel its chief restructuring officer. Dubel, who the company says has over 30 years of crisis management and board representation experience, will head SunEdison’s restructuring efforts and report to its independent board directors.

SunEdison and certain of its domestic and international subsidiaries filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the Southern District of New York on April 21. Dubel’s appointment and the terms of his engagement remain subject to the approval of the bankruptcy court.

Dubel is the CEO of Dubel & Associates LLC, a company he founded that provides restructuring and turnaround services to underperforming companies. He currently serves on the board and as liquidating trust manager of the ResCap Liquidating Trust. Recently, Dubel was chairman and CEO of Financial Guaranty Insurance Co. and a partner at Gradient Partners LP, a single-strategy distressed hedge fund.

Dubel is a past board member and officer of the Association of Insolvency and Reorganization Advisors, a certified insolvency and reorganization advisor, and a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
