Blue Square Energy (BSE), a developer and manufacturer of high-performance silicon solar cells based in North East, Md., has hired Alan Swanson as vice president of manufacturing operations. Before joining BSE, he spent 30 years with Tyco Electronics (formerly AMP Inc.), most recently as acting director of operations for the global energy group in Zibo, China, where he analyzed and oversaw construction of a 65,000-square-foot manufacturing site and recruited, hired, and trained the Chinese management and staff professionals for the site.
