BSI Completes Second Contract For High-Purity Silicon

0

Becancour Silicon Inc. (BSI), a subsidiary of Timminco Ltd., has agreed to sell its high-purity silicon to a solar cell manufacturer.

The agreement provides for a minimum of 1,500 metric tons and up to 5,000 metric tons over an initial term of five years, the company says. However, the agreement is subject to BSI's increased production capacity. The contract represents BSI's second commercial contract for the sale of its high-purity silicon.

‘This second customer contract validates the interest that solar cell manufacturers have in the high-purity silicon being produced at BSI,’ says Rene Boisvert, BSI's president.
