BTU International, a supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment for the alternative energy and electronics manufacturing markets, says it has completed ISO 9001:2008 certification for the company's Shanghai, China, manufacturing operations.
‘Initially, this plant was geared towards the manufacturing of surface mount technology equipment,’ notes Boris Mathiszik, BTU's managing director for Asia Pacific. ‘Since then, we have added product lines from our photovoltaics portfolio, and our operations here are now supporting both electronics and solar customers globally.’
BTU's Shanghai facility serves as the company's Asia Pacific headquarters and comprises manufacturing, engineering and process development functions, in addition to sales and service. The facility houses BTU's first Center of Excellence for Photovoltaics Manufacturing Technology, dedicated in 2008, and is located in the heart of the Chinese solar manufacturing industry, BTU says.
