Germany-headquartered Burkle says it has developed the e.a.sy-Lam SL, a new technology for laminating solar modules. According to company manager Hans-Joachim Bender, the new system reduces the required process time to 3.5 minutes.
The three-step, single-opening laminators can reach an annual production capacity of up to 110 MW, the company adds. A ten-opening laminator can reach an annual production capacity of up to 265 MW.
Burkle says it has developed the new technology improvements by focusing on several process parameters, including increasing the temperature used while laminating glass-foil modules. Depending on foil type, an increase of the operating temperature by 10 degrees C can double the cross-linking speed.
The company is currently carrying out several test series on a laboratory laminator at its headquarters.
