Burkle North America Inc. and Willard & Kelsey Solar Group (W&K) have announced that W&K has begun high-volume production of cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar panels at its plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, using Burkle's Multi Daylight Laminator – the Ypsator.
According to Burkle, the lamination system features thermal fluid platen heating, assuring uniform heating of the modules across the platen, minimized edge pinch due to the hydraulic hot pressing step, reduced cycle time due to the split lamination process and uniform cooling resulting in flat modules having reduced internal stress.
The system at W&K, as supplied, provides a production capacity of 140 modules per hour.
