California ISO says its solar power production hit back-to-back records last week. A new record of 4,093 MW on March 8 topped the previous day's record-setting output of 3,926 MW.

Electricity generated from solar has more than doubled from June 7, 2013, when the ISO recorded 2,071 MW of peak production. Output has more than quadrupled from summer 2012.

In addition to its 5,231 MW of peak solar capacity, the ISO says it has 5,890 MW of peak wind capacity. The current wind production record stands at 4,302 MW, set June 23, 2013.

In total, all renewables make up about 15,000 MW of the ISO generation mix.
