During a recent heat wave, solar power generation in California surpassed 1 GW and set new U.S. records twice, according to the California Independent System Operator Corp. (ISO).
The output was approximately equal to two large gas-fired power plants, the ISO adds. During the recent annual ISO Stakeholder Symposium in Sacramento, California energy officials held a celebration to mark the new solar generation records.
