Canadian Solar, Merck Collaborate On isishape Technology

Canadian Solar Inc. has implemented Merck's isishape materials in the mass production of its ELPS (Efficient, Long-term Photovoltaic Solution) solar cells. According to the companies, the isishape materials help upgrade ELPS cells to a 2.0 version and improve the efficiency of p-type monocrystalline solar cells to 20%.

Merck and Canadian Solar have worked together on the technology's research and development (R&D) efforts for years. The present focus of the joint R&D work is on new types of cells to further improve cell efficiency.
