Canadian Solar Solutions Inc. has agreed to sell its Westbrook 10 MW solar power plant in Kingston, Ontario, to a fund managed by BlackRock. The construction of the Westbrook solar plant is already under way, with commercial operation expected in the second quarter of the year.
The Westbrook utility-scale solar power plant is expected to include 47,160 Canadian Solar CS6X modules. Canadian Solar is providing engineering, procurement and construction services to complete the project and will provide operations and maintenance services after completion. The plant is expected to have a 20-year operational life under the Ontario Power Authority feed-in tariff contract.
The agreement follows BlackRock's acquisition of the Demorestville and Taylor Kidd solar power plants – totaling 20 MW (AC) – from Canadian Solar last September. The two plants are also located in Ontario.
