Canadian Solar Supplies Modules For 3.6 MW PV Plant

Canadian Solar Inc. has provided its modules for a 3.6 MW PV rooftop installation on a ski center in Hamburg-Wittenburg, Germany.

The winter sports center's operator uses the self-produced solar power to significantly offsets energy costs while, at the same time, reducing the power needed to run the cooling system, thanks to the shadowing effect underneath the solar system.

Installing the structure-mounted rooftop system allows the operator to run the facility 365 days a year using only the self-generated power. This makes the operators independent from the public grid and German subsidies, Canadian Solar notes.

The project was planned and implemented by Hamburg-based project company Dr. Metje Consulting.
