The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) recently announced its support for the Ontario government's Home Energy Retrofit and Solar Power Initiatives.
The pilot project, which applies to both solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies, is located in the highly populated areas of York, Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. The fact that the program is in these areas, CanSIA says, signals the government's understanding that solar can be a reliable energy resource and employment opportunity for the province.
‘Solar energy is an incredible resource and one of the key green technologies in Canada's arsenal to fight climate change,’ says Elizabeth McDonald, CanSIA's executive director. ‘Clearly, the Ontario government understands the importance of solar energy – that it is here today and going to be a greater part of the future.’
