Central Hudson Extends Its Net Metering Program

S Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. has extended its Net Metering program that allows participants to sell the excess electricity generated through their home's solar power system back to the utility.

The company requested an increase in enrollments from 800 kW to 1,200 kW. The extension, which was approved by the New York State Public Service Commission, raises the number of potential participants.

‘With new applications received each month, the program would soon have ended without this extension,’ says Carl E. Meyer, Central Hudson's president and chief operating officer.

Central Hudson adds that there are currently 138 Mid-Hudson Valley residents using net-metered photovoltaic systems – with an additional 36 systems in progress.
