centrotherm Designs Polysilicon Production Facility For TPSI

centrotherm photovoltaics AG says Taiwan PolySilicon Corp. (TPSI) has commissioned a new polysilicon production facility. The manufacturing facility, which offers an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons – with an upgrade option to 8,000 tons – was designed by a centrotherm subsidiary, centrotherm SiTec.

TPSI has commenced production at the largest single major polysilicon production facility in Taiwan, according to centrotherm. The polysilicon quality that has been produced in the first production run exceeds usual market standards, the company adds.

centrotherm SiTec was responsible for factory planning and provided the basic engineering, process know-how, and reactors and converters for polysilicon manufacturing at the facility. According to the company, the vent gas recovery system deployed allows better exploitation of process gases, thereby significantly cutting both manufacturing costs and energy requirements.

Following the conclusion of the initial production phase, TPSI plans to expand annual production capacity to up to 12,000 tons over the coming years.
