The City of Lemoore, Calif., and Chevron Energy Solutions have started construction of a 3.1 MW solar installation to power water wells, a wastewater treatment plant, the Cinnamon Municipal Complex, police department and several other municipal facilities.
‘With a combination of financing, grants and incentives, we were able to leverage a modest investment of taxpayer funds for the maximum benefit,’ says Lemoore Mayor William Siegel. ‘This project will enable us to save significant amounts of money and energy.’
The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2014 and is expected to generate close to 100% of the electricity for most of the facilities included. This is the third project Chevron Energy has undertaken for Lemoore in the past five years.
