Chevron Energy To Build Solar Projects For Lucia Mar School District

0

The school board of the Lucia Mar Unified School District in San Luis Obispo County, Calif., has awarded Chevron Energy a contract to develop solar energy systems and a energy efficiency program. The project will include 1.7 MW of solar generation capacity at seven district sites.

‘We've been facing increasing energy costs, which led us to look carefully at our energy efficiency, as well as the potential to produce our own energy with solar,’ says Jim Hogeboom, Lucia Mar superintendent. ‘We believe this project will allow us to fulfill three critical goals – financial, environmental and educational.’

Chevron says it expects construction on the project to begin in January 2014.
