Chevron Installing 3.1 MW Solar Project For City Of Lemoore

0

The City of Lemoore, Calif., and Chevron Energy Solutions are starting construction of an expansive solar installation to power domestic water wells, a wastewater treatment plant, the Cinnamon Municipal Complex, the police department and several other facilities throughout the city.

Chevron expects the project to generate 3.1 MW of electricity and reduce purchases from the electric utility by close to 100% for most of the facilities. Over the life of the project, and after paying all its costs, the City of Lemoore could save close to $45 million, Chevron adds.

The company will design, engineer, build, and operate and maintain the solar installation, representing Chevron's third project for the city in the past five years. The installation is slated for completion in May 2014.
