Coherent Inc. has introduced a new high-power addition to its AVIA laser product line: the AVIA-355-28. The new tool delivers output power levels to 28 W at the short ultraviolet wavelength of 355 nm.
The AVIA series of turnkey, pulsed, solid-state lasers have been employed within cell and panel manufacturing steps for both crystalline-silicon and thin-film solar production lines, Coherent says.
The new higher power level provides increased throughput levels via reduced processing times per wafer. Existing applications, such as edge isolation and laser-grooved buried contacts, stand to benefit immediately from the incremental power level increase, the company adds.
