Sharp Solar, Xcel Energy, MMA Renewable Ventures, WorldWater & Solar Technologies Corp. and several dignitaries recently dedicated a 2 MW solar energy system at Denver International Airport (DIA). The system spans 7.5 acres and will generate over 3 million kWh of electricity annually.
MMA Renewable Ventures financed, owns and operates the system, which was designed and installed by WorldWater. More than 9,200 Sharp Solar PV panels were employed in the ground-mounted project.
‘We are proud to have such a large and prominently placed solar power system at DIA,’ says Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. ‘This installation is both a symbol and a practical example of the city's commitment to renewable energy.’
