Companies Starting Research On Thin-Film Solar Improvements

0

Avancis GmbH & Co. KG, Singulus Technologies AG, Heraeus Noblelight GmbH and the IfG Institute for Scientific Instruments GmbH have initiated the CIS Cluster Tool project, which will seek to develop new manufacturing procedures for copper indium selenide (CIS)-based thin-film semiconductors.

The project's objective is to research new processes in order to manufacture high-efficiency thin-film solar modules, as well as to increase plant throughput, the companies say. Research areas will include rapid thermal processing concepts, full process chains and new in-situ measurement processes.

The CIS Cluster Tool project is a part of the German government's Photovoltaic Innovations Alliance program. For more information, e-mail Avancis' Dr. Franz Karg at franz.karg@avancis.de.
