Solana Beach, Calif.-headquartered Open Energy Corp., a renewable energy company that focuses on designing and manufacturing solar energy products, has completed the first installation of its SolarSave Roofing Membranes at the KTS Machine Shop, Elmwood Park, N.J.

The project includes 56 SolarSave Roofing Membranes, creating a 25 kW system that is expected to generate 100% of the electrical energy needed to power the building, the company says. The building-integrated photovoltaic (PV) membranes are ideal for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential low slope applications.

‘Working with our roofing contractor, Jottan Inc., we decided that given the limited roof space, it was imperative that the building had the highest power output per-square-foot, and the SolarSave Roofing Membranes were able to provide this,’ comments Bill Hoey, managing member for NJ Solar Power, the project's solar integrator.

Open Energy also adds that the SolarSave Membranes recently won the Cool Product award at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference.
